About this course
This course is for California BBS licensees and registrants (LMFT, LCSW, LPCC, LEP, AMFT, ASW, and APCC) who see substance use in their caseloads. It covers person-first language, a short look at the brain science, and the DSM-5-TR criteria for substance use disorders; screening with the AUDIT, DAST-10, and CRAFFT and the SBIRT model; motivational interviewing and the stages of change; co-occurring disorders, harm reduction, and overdose prevention; an overview of medications for alcohol, opioid, and tobacco use disorders so you can inform and refer well; family impact, CRAFT, and relapse prevention; and the ASAM Criteria, when to refer to a higher level of care, confidentiality, and California minor consent rules. A composite case follows one client from screening to ongoing care. Included in the $69 bundle, or $9 on its own.
CE credit is awarded after you complete the reading, pass the post-test at 70% or higher, and complete the evaluation.
